Panel 1: Yes, folks, this scene is Ninjette’s own experience of the climactic events from Empowered vol. 6, whilst dangling upside-down, glued-up, and helpless, unable to assist the off-panel Emp in her attack on the also-off-panel Deathmonger and Size Queen. Well, at least Kozue could hear the sound FX, as seen—or heard?—here.

In case you’d forgotten, Ninjette wound up in this damsel-distressed state after being ambushed by the Deathmonger-controlled Superdead hero Gooey Samaritan.

A friend of mine brought up a question about that scene that I’ve never quite figured out. Q: Is Gooey Samaritan generating sticky goo akin to how a hagfish produces prodigious amounts of icky slime? Or could it be that he—or she?—is a being similar to Protean (aka Glorpp), and we’re seeing his body’s protoplasmic substance attenuated and extruded to create these bonds?

I hadn’t really considered the matter, TBH, but I think the former explanation might be more likely. On the other hand, though, this makes me ponder possible skeeviness from Protean’s POV; in the scene from Empowered vol. 11 in which he gooed up Emp, that meant that ol' Glorpp could feel her body with his grabby pseudopods' sense of touch while doing so. Skeevy, I say!
