The deleted Empowered vol. 9 scene rolls on, folks!

Panel 4: Safe to say that Emp was not yet part of the D&D renaissance as of 2011, or whenever the hell I wrote and drew this scene. Could things be different nowadays? Ehh, dunno about that.

Not sure if the concept of "18(00) STR" (or any post-18 percentage, for that matter) survived long past 1e AD&D, but I can tell you that Thugboy's DM from the San Antonio era was definitely an older guy who preferred the TSR-era material. Gotta say I was surprised when a friend of mine who's a hardcore D&D head, familiar with every g-d edition of the game, told me that he couldn't remember what the immortal "18(00)" was all about; why, I'll go to my grave knowing that Fighters-only characteristic was +3 to hit and +6 on damage.
